Summer Festival 2020 - Arena di Verona

Our territory is undoubtedly full of things to do and see, some of these are very special.

In this article we want to talk about an opera festival that has been taking place in Verona since 1913. During the summer season, in fact, the ancient Roman theater, one of the best-known monuments of Verona and dating back to the first century, is set up as a large theater outdoors and opera and concerts are performed there. Let's see the research program immediately:

  • Saturday 25 July, "The heart of music"
  • Friday 31 July, Mozart's "Requiem"
  • Saturday 1 August, "The Stars of the Opera"
  • Friday 7 August, "Wagner in Arena"
  • Saturday 8 August, "Verdi Gala"
  • Thursday 13 August, Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons"
  • Friday 14 August, "Rossini Gala"
  • Friday 21 August, Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi"
  • Saturday 22 August, "Puccini Gala"
  • Friday 28 August, "Placido Domingo for the Arena"
  • Saturday 29 August, "Opera in Love"

Originally, 51 shows were scheduled for the 2020 season, but the Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to carry out the program; So the Arena Foundation has proceeded to postpone everything next to the shows on the agenda and an alternative Festival has been organized which consists of 11 event nights in the form of a concert. This year sees, for the first time, also in a different setting, with the stage at the center of the amphitheater and the arrangement of seats in accordance with national regulations for safety and for holding events.
